i have 4 ferrets i took in on 11/20/07. upon recieving they all had long
nails & 2 or the guys feet were covered with poop & i kid you not i've never
smelled a ferret that bad. upon arriving home my other half & i both took 2
ferrets & went to bathe these guys. we used baby shampoo on them & dawn on
their feet. they loved the bath. anyhow I've been concerned about their
health. they smell better their poop looks great & doesn't smell horrific
anymore. they all have heavy build up on their teeth yet I was told youngest
was 6 mos. oldest 9 mos. the teeth is the only way i've seen people age them.
they all go in Monday for exams & shots. i guess i'm just looking for
reassurance until then. I know alot about ferret I have 2 others but the new
ones are in quarantine just in case. could someone with more experience help
answer some questions please. I'd like them to make it.

Did you by any chance get these ferrets in Ohio ? One of the ferret
shelters there received hundreds from a breeder. Just wondering. If I
could have got some to Montana, I would have got a few. Is best to
quarantine until vet visit. Are they spayed or neutered with scent
glands taken out ? Ferrets will have a strong order if not fixed.
I have had ferrets for 30 years. I have 7 right now. I have 20 books
about ferrets. I would help you if I can. There are also excellent
ferret sites on the internet. People that post here know a lot also.
Happy Holidays again,take care.
